The King s Head is a 13th century coaching inn situated in the historical market town of Llandovery located in the heart of the Breacon Beacons. King s Head occupies one of the sites of the Burage Hoses of the first Castle Borough of Llandovery (early twelfth century) and has been scheduled as a building of historical and architectural interest. Originally a single storey building of pre sixteenth century - probably mediaeval origins - the top half was added in the reign of Charles I whose head is on the sign. The Kings Head s restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and a menu that incorporates locally sourced produce. The 1700s building was once The Bank of the Black Ox one of the first banks in Wales.
